I've already spoken to a couple of drivers on this issue, and I know what MY thoughts are, but what about the rest of you, what do you think of the changes? Let's hear it!!!

Yep You'll come home to find that he's worried all his hair off wondering where Daddy is. And man, that's a lot of hair to lose. But if you throw him on a ritz cracker, he might be that snack Dis was talkin about LOL.

Hi... my husband drives for Crete and I ride with him full time. We have been here for almost 3 years and never planned on leaving. We bring our dog along with us, and that is the main reason we chose Crete. Although we have been pretty here. We are very unhappy with the new policy. We have no options for our pet so we will be forced to leave. It is too bad they did not put a grandpa clause or something to work with drivers a little more on this issue.
I'm sure they will be loosing a lot of dedicated drivers as a result of this new policy.

I'm sure they will be loosing a lot of dedicated drivers as a result of this new policy. I am sure you are right. My last couple of trips out I had quite a few discussions with other drivers with pets who told me that when their pet went so would they. I even considered myself to be one of them, until I did some research into other pet friendly companies and found that it simply wasn't worth the cut in pay it would bring to change over and keep the dog. As it turns out, I ended up being unable to leave after my last tah (hurt myself) and they picked up my truck, so I'm out of the dilemma for now, until I get better. I do understand it is their truck, and they can do whatever they wish, but I really don't think it was handled well. I don't recall a discussion between the company and drivers bringing up problems that might lead to going no pets. It was just thrust upon us with no dialogue exchanged. I realize also that some folks may have allowed their pets to damage the trucks in some way or another, and that idle time was higher in trucks with pets (supposedly). We all know that the cost of everything, especially fuel, is climbing quickly day-by-day. Still, with all things, usually there is some kind of hint that there are problems, and some sort of discussion to reach a happy medium somewhere. In this case, it was just BAM!! here it is, deal with it. Very unfair I think. As a female solo, my dog was my company on the road, and also my security, when anyone even walked near my truck or made the slightest noise, my dog let me know. I slept better having him there. Also, on the issue of idle, my truck idled for MY comfort, not my pets. I only idled when I had to because of temperature. When they asked that I reduce my idle time, I got Idle Aire and used it to help cut it down. I am sure many pet owners would have been willing to help keep idle down if they had been approached about it. When I came over to Crete, I loved the company, because they let me drive the truck and didn't bug the heck out of me when I did it. I also felt like they valued me as a driver rather than looking at me as simply meat in the seat. This whole pet thing, as well as a few other changes I've noticed of late have definitely shaken that belief for me. It's really sad to watch the company I love start the slide down the hill into "just another trucking company".

I was very surprised to hear Schneider will reimburse for IdleAire. So will Crete as well? I just may get an account if they do.

I am not totally sure on this, I do know they don't have a company account for their drivers, but I never tried to turn in a receipt for reimbursement. I figured I'd just take it off on my taxes. Just read in the latest issue of Landline, however that Idle Aire has filed Chap 11. Not sure how much longer they will be running. The article didn't mention anything about a bailout by the govt., so the Idle Aire may be a dead issue. I got the impression from the article that they were simply getting the company ready for shutdown. Shame too, cuz I still have 50 bucks on my Idle aire card LOL

I just read on another forum, the Truckers Report, that another driver just saw a new pet policy. Apparently, they have changed the rule so now pets can stay. The person did not go into any details, does anyone have any information on this?? It'd be nice if Crete would send everyone a qualcomm message so we would know what is going on.
My husband spoke to his fleet manager about a week ago, and he said we MIGHT be able to keep our pet if we can keep our idling down to 30%. We just received our first notice about idling over 30%. In fact, they said we were over 50%, and thats with over a day and half downtime due to load delivery times, and paying well over 100.00 for idle aire.
Anyway, we looking into another company and just wondered if anyone had any insight on this. thanks!
