Load I have now delivers Wednesday morning in Mira Loma, CA. Tomorrow afternoon I'll make it to Ontario waiting for Weds to deliver. So, I can't idle in CA to keep cool. I call Crete and ask if IdleAire is reimbursable in CA since we can't idle, answer is "your TM has to approve it". So I call my TM and answer is "no". I then call her boss in Lincoln to complain and again, no, IdleAire is not reimbursable. I understand the company is trying to save money but CA is aggressively enforcing this law and it should be reimbursable. I've heard Schneider will which says a lot for that penny pinching company. I don't have a problem with Crete not reimbursing in the other 47 states as they are not aggressively enforcing their idle laws, but CA should be an exception.

It is a very irritating situation I know. I just plan to take what I've spent on Idle Aire off my taxes next year. I had heard Crete didn't reimburse for it, but faced with the demand that I cut my idle time down, I did what I had to do.
I agree with you, that if they send you to a state so rigid about not idling, they should make an exception and reimburse for it, as the service is not cheap, even for just the basic. I also heard they raised their prices as well. I stopped taking loads to Cali because of how rabid they are over idling. I'm not dying in a truck so some moron can have their freight. As far as I'm concerned, they ( whomever ordered the freight) can have one of their daycab guys meet me at the border with an empty, and we'll swap out. Let him worry about being comfortable in Cali.

Well, I'm idling right now. Heck, it's hot! It's 90 atm so I guess it could be hotter. It was 106 inside my truck after I got back in after eating lunch. Sunset is at 8 pm so my tentative plan is to idle till about then. Certainly these folks are somewhat reasonable and will let you idle when you really need to,,,, right? And yea, I know I've said I would not come back to CA after they started going wacko over idling but it was really hard to pass up a very productive load. I picked up this load in KY, was 2000 miles or so and I shut down today with 15 mins left on my 70 and 35 miles from my del tomorrow AM.
