Unless you go from one laptop to a newer one. I recently traded the thinkpad (which is having problems with the screen not lighting up intermittently) to a Dell 1525 Inspiron, WiFi ready, dvd/cd burner, skads of RAM etc. Now this new one is fast compared to the thinkpad which I got before I left SNI in 06. The Thinkpad was already maxed then. When I took the Dell home to check it out, I noticed there was no slot for my aircard. Waaaaah!!! But at least when I got it out on the road it would sniff out Wifi networks and I'd connect that way.
Took the dell down to AT & T to find out what I needed to do to use my aircard in this one. He gets to foolin with it, pushes on what looked like it should have been a slot for an aircard, and this slide thing pops out. So THAT'S where you put the aircard! Except for one thing, my old aircard is Twice the size of the slot!!! Immediately I am told my choices are a $300 "Express card" or a 250 buck one that goes in the USB port, and is considerably bulky, and terribly easy to break. Thank Goodness for tax time, I took my refund and bought the new Express aircard, and as you can see, it's working quite nicely. I have to admit I was impressed with it when I put it in the computer and it began loading the Communications Manager software from itself to my puter. Previously you had to install that from a CD.
It also seems to pull in a better signal here at home so you all may hear from me during TAH too, not just while I'm on the road. So if anyone tells you size doesn't matter, they don't know what they are talking about. Now if they say it isn't always the biggest one that gets the job done best, THAT you can agree with!
