I called my terminal last week to schedule my days off for next week. I will have been out for 37 days which qualifies me for 6 days off on the 1 day for every 6 you are out, however, I only asked for 5. Well the lady who takes care of this informs me that I can only take a max of 4 days and that's Crete's policy. She also informs me that you only get 4 days off per month and if you do not take them you don't get additional days off the next month. So if you start you on the road time on say May 1 and stay out till June 15 you can only get 4 days off as that is the max! So this has never been mentioned to before. She tells me it's always been that way. Can anyone enlighten me or does this sound like total BS?

was it Donna?
They normally only want you to take max 4 days, but your aquired days roll over...she was feeding u a line.
Call Scott at Columbus,he will be straight up with you.
I would take your 5,what are they gonna do?

No, was not Donna. Donna I guess was off or on vacation when I called. The lady I spoke to is the one who normally takes care of scheduling drivers for time off.
Donna I've found to be reasonable and I would have asked to speak to her if she were there.
I'm taking 5, my productivity is fine as long as they keep me moving before I get home.

Snuffy,I was wrong on aquired days off rolling over. They must have changed it since I went thru orientation, because they were bragging about how hard Crete drivers run,and how one driver had 140 days of TAH saved up.
I apologise to you for telling you wrong.

Yeah, I've had a few discussions with my terminal manager over this very subject, and it seems 4 days is the max. Sometimes they will work with you, like with vacation time. And it seems like they are getting stiffer on a lot of things than they've done in the past. May be the reason why quite a few long time Crete and Shaffers are not really happy campers these days. The reins are being pulled in, and they don't like it.
I just make sure I don't stay out longer than the four weeks. I just hate being shafted on the time I can't take off. I thought time rolled over too, and took it off the next time home only to get growled at. So I don't do that anymore. Yeah you seem to get better miles the longer you stay out and run, but then when you get shafted out of the time you deserve, it ain't worth it.

Well that stinks. Well, now I know what's up. Guess I'll make sure I get home at least once a month from now on.

Yep, I have no problem with stayin out a while, but at least be fair about the time off I've earned doing so. 4 days isn't a lot of time to recover from being out a long stretch, at least not for me. Wish things were back the way they used to be LOL

Called my TM the day I was headed home. Had not spoken to her since this topic came up with me. She had no problem with me taking the time off I had earned after 43 days, though I only took 5 days off so I would hit the road on the 3rd and not on July 4th weekend. I figured if I hit the road on July 4th weekend I could get stuck waiting for a while.
She said there is a limit though. She said she'd been having a few problems drivers staying out 2 months and wanting 10 days off and said she could not accommodate that. She had no problems with me though staying out 6 weeks and taking what time off I had earned.
From now on I'll probably stay out 6 weeks then and go home for 5 - 6 days.
